چکیده

A class of adaptive procedures is described. These procedures are relatively easy to implement and have many useful properties for audiologic applications. Recent advances in programmable hearing aids enable these techniques to be used effectively in adaptive prescriptive fitting of a hearing aid. All of the procedures are based on the simple up-down technique that, in addition to its simplicity, is both efficient and reliable.

Evaluation of an in-situ output probe-microphone method for hearing aid fitting verification.

Several hearing aid prescription procedures specify frequency gain functions in terms of the desired levels of amplified speech. The most direct method for verifying hearing aid fittings based on these procedures requires a measurement of amplified speech in the ear canal. This paper describes the evaluation of a probe microphone measurement procedure designed to measure amplified speech to ver...

Hearing aid benefit in patients with high-frequency hearing loss.

Patients with hearing loss limited to frequencies above 2 kHz are often considered borderline candidates for hearing aids. In this study, we used the Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit to access 134 patients' perceived benefit with a variety of linear hearing aids, some more capable than others at achieving prescribed frequency gain targets. We also sought to explore various audiologic and subject ...

Development of a hearing aid self-efficacy questionnaire.

Discontinued hearing-aid use is caused by a number of factors, most of which may lead to low hearing-aid self-efficacy (i.e. low confidence in one's ability to B a successful hearing-aid user). This paper describes the development of the Measure of Audiologic Rehabilitation Self-Efficacy for Hearing Aids (MARS-HA), which was constructed in accordance with published recommendations for self-effi...
